Literature Highlights: Issue 2

Welcome to the Concept Life Sciences Literature Highlights: Issue 2!

We are passionate about synthetic chemistry and preparing small molecules for our client’s projects – expediting their journey from Concept through to Clinic. Our synthetic chemistry services span the full gamut of scales; milligrams of compound can be prepared to test out hypotheses, for initial screening campaigns or to fill in gaps for patent applications; up to kilograms of compound can be produced in our manufacturing facility for Phase I clinical trials. We can also provide support with the development of early-stage medicinal chemistry routes and render them suitable for scale up with our experienced team of process research & development scientists.

We are committed to delivering the best science to our clients and this means we have to stay on top of the exponentially growing synthetic organic chemistry literature. We continually update our methodology to ensure our synthetic chemistry results in cleaner reaction profiles, higher conversions, easier isolations and higher yields. But what’s our strategy?

Each and every month for the last 12 years a group of our chemists have come together to peruse >20 journals from the primary synthetic chemistry literature, selecting a handful of articles that they feel will benefit our synthetic chemistry teams. We feel that our efforts filtering select literature will benefit the synthetic organic chemistry community at large, especially those synthetic chemists who don’t have access to the literature – or time to read it. So here you are, Issue 2.

This month the team have selected a diverse array of chemistry spanning several fields including catalysis and green chemistry. Do check out the use of an aqueoussodium tosylate – methyl tosylate solution as a sustainable method for themethylation of phenols, a hidden gem recently published in Green Chemistry.
