Peakdale Hosts ECHONET Training Day

On Friday 15th April Peakdale will host the next ECHONET training day at their Chapel-en-le-Frith Headquarters. During this 1 day event, Peakdale will host a number of workshop classes, geared towards medicinal chemistry. A mixture of hands-on modules and theoretical seminars will give researchers attending the day an introduction to the basic aspects and current developments in medicinal chemistry.

ECHONET is a Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) and offers research training in state-of-the-art chemical synthesis, catalysis, computational chemistry, bioactive molecule design and high throughput library synthesis on both solid phase and flow platforms. Through integration of the complementary, interdisciplinary and intersectorial expertise of the associated partners, and the secondments of researchers to the associated partners, the ITN will help to strengthen Europe’s human resources in the fine chemical, agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

Tom James, Senior Chemist at Peakdale commented: “We are delighted to welcome the ECHONET ITN researchers to Peakdale. The day promises to be an exciting showcase of modern medicinal chemistry, delivered by experienced scientists, utilising the vast experience within Peakdale. The day aims to bring together broad swathes of medicinally relevant biology, chemistry and computation science, mirroring the diverse training afforded by the  ECHONET programme.”

Paul Doyle, Chief Operating Officer at Peakdale added: “I am pleased that Peakdale is able to provide an environment  to foster the ambitions of ECHONET and help to contribute to the training of future leaders of research, vital for the continuation of the UK as a leader in chemistry based research.”

The network provides research and training opportunities for 11 researchers (9 ESRs and 2 ERs) in the field of synthetic chemistry for the preparation of bioactive molecules. The network comprises 8 full partners (6 academic and 2 industrial) and 2 industrial associated partners.

Pictures of the day will shortly follow on our website, in the meantime if you’d like any more for more information regarding ECHONET ITN and any of the upcoming workshops, visit the ECHONET website
