Concept Life Sciences is an independent company specialising in accredited analytical services for the following areas – environmental, health and safety, chemical, petroleum, food, growers and retailers and electronics. Established in 1990, Concept has five of the most up to date laboratory facilities in Europe. With 8000m2 of active laboratory space Concept Life Sciences is one of the largest independent laboratories in Europe. Concept Life Sciences laboratories are spread throughout the UK so that you are never far from your local laboratory. The laboratories are based in the following locations – Manchester, Cambridge, Braintree, East Kilbride and Moy, Northern Ireland.
Due to continued growth and expansion within our industry leading UK Pesticide Testing Laboratory, a vacancy has arisen for a full time Laboratory Technician at our Cambridge facility.
Our pesticides residues laboratory is respected throughout the industry for its first-class customer service and technical excellence, and it is our people’s ability and dedication that allow us to continue to offer this vital service to the fresh produce industry.
The role will include, but not be limited to:
- Sample receipt – Receipt and accurate registration of samples to customer requirements, to ensure all analysis is undertaken as per customer request.
- Sample preparation – preparation of food samples is undertaken in accordance with Concept’s standard operating procedures.
- Sample extraction – liquid liquid extraction and sample clean-up of food extracts is undertaken in our main laboratory. The extracted samples are then tested against analytical chromatography methods including: Gas Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography utilising MS/MS detectors and state of the art analytical software by our trained analytical chemists.
- General laboratory duties – Such as calibration of equipment and compliance with Concept’s quality procedures.
As a laboratory technician, your day will be varied, meeting customer and business requirements within a fast-paced testing environment.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with an eye for detail, have a passion for science and meeting the needs of our clients in the fast-paced food industry. An ability to work quickly and accurately is necessary, as our customers will routinely request results within a same day period.
Initiative and a questioning mind are actively encouraged, as it is through our staff that we are able to continually adapt.
Experience or qualifications in this area, whilst of benefit, is not required, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
Working hours – 37.5 hours per week – Monday – Friday but will include Saturday’s on a rota basis
Start times will vary between 8am – 10am.
