Scientific Analysis Laboratories (SAL) is now delivering specific aerosol and e-cigarette emission testing throughout the UK and worldwide. As one of the largest laboratories in Europe, SAL has pioneered and developed robust methods for device operation and sampling of such emissions for parameter such as, Nicotine dose consistency, Aldehydes (typically acetaldehyde, acrolein and formaldehyde) Heavy metals (typically aluminium, cadmium, chromium, mercury, nickel, iron lead and tin) and Glycols. Other tests can include screens to identify other compounds generated when the device is operated, tobacco specific nitrosamines etc.
As of May 2016, the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) (DIRECTIVE 2014/40/EU, article20) introduced new regulations in regards to e-cigarettes and refill containers. Under the TPD, it is legally required that all EU member states ensure that information relating to specific emissions from electronic cigarettes and refill containers is submitted to the authorities, prior to products being placed within the EU market. The TPD also states that such information should also include details of the testing of aerosols produced when such devices are operated.
SAL’s new testing service can assist you in ensuring that TPD regulations for e-cigarette emissions, refill containers and specific aerosol testing are met. For any more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
